Fun at this year's Festival

As well as all the fantastic acts we have lined up this year, there is plenty of other things to see and do at the Festival. We've loads of fun and surreal street theatre booked. We're also putting more emphasis the beautiful site art including willow figures and a new installation called the Tree of Lost Things. As usual there are workshops for young and old and not just musical ones. Why not join in the Tai Chi in the healing area or learn whicker weaving? Or take a nature walk round the wilderness area, meet your favourite artists at the signing tent, get your face-painted or listen to some storytelling. And as usual, impromptu jamming sessions all round the site!

Up-and-coming acts at this year's Festival...

There's loads of up-and-coming acts booked to play at this year's Festival, below are just a few of our highlights...

Lissie
Bluesy folk and pop from rising star, US singer-songwriter Lissie. Her first single was A listed on Radio 2 and her second single is just starting to pick up airplay so you may have already heard her. She also made her UK TV debut on Jools Holland earlier this month (7th May) and debut album's out in June.

Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit
Acclaimed contemporary folk band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex come from London’s emergent nu-folk scene whose young stars include Noah & the Whale and Laura Marling. Laura collaberates with them on one of the tracks from their new album released later this summer.

Stornoway
British indie folk-pop band Stornoway, combining strings and keyboards with guitar, drum and bass. Debut album comes out 24th May. http://www.myspace.com/stornoway Their song Zorbing is amazing.

Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends
Shanty singers Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends have delighted locals and visitors for 15 years singing on the harbour front in the tiny Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac. Their major record label debut has just charted.

The Burns Unit
Cambridge is the only English festival appearance from new collective The Burns Unit, featuring Emma Pollock, Future Pilot A.K.A., Karine Polwart, Kim Edgar, King Creosote, Mattie Foulds, Michael Johnston and MC Soom T, launching their new album. All of these are really cool artists in their own right and their album together is just great!

Harper Simon
A debut English festival appearance from singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Harper Simon, who grew up playing music with his father Paul Simon. His album was Album Of The Week on Radio 2 and has received massive airplay from the station.

And don't miss the Club Tent Showcases
The Club Tent has become one of the best places to catch new acts and surprise performances by well known names. It's almost like the alternative scene at the Festival.

The Festival’s tradition of introducing up-and-coming artists continues with Club Tent Showcases from: Belshazzar's Feast, featuring Paul Hutchinson and Paul Sartin blending traditional folk with jazz, pop, music hall and wicked humour; young singer-songwriter-guitarist Sam Carter, already dubbed “one of the most gifted acoustic guitarists of his generation” and current BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award winner; Fay Hield, one of the first signings in many years to the prestigious Topic Records; Jonny Kearney & Lucy Farrell, whose appearances supporting The Unthanks have attracted great acclaim; and singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sean Taylor, described as “the finest acoustic blues talent to appear in the UK in many a year”. Plus much more.
Excited yet?
